Root Hog

3/2/2010 - Root Hog has so many things in the works coming up, that we haven't taken any time to catch up with you all on our plans for the Spring. After warming up 2010 with some shows scattered around Indiana and Illinois, the band locked themselves up ina rehearsal space, in what is becoming a yearly tradition in February, and cranked out some new tunes. Now that the new material has been road tested we are focused on our next big task... winning the Birdy's Battle of the Bands competing for a spot on this years Summer Camp Festival.

Last year, Root Hog made a solid effort, with several Lafayette folks showing their support and making the drive to Indy. Root Hog took second place and were so proud of the support that Lafayette showed. This year we are asking for your help once more. We will be competing in Indianapolis again, and against Indianapolis bands once again, so we will have to bring as many folks as possible to have a shot at this years festival, but we think we can do it. This years battle is Sunday March 28. If you need a ride or help in any way please email us at matt@roothogmusic.com and we will do everything to make sure that you are able to come out and support Lafayette at this battle.

After we win the Birdy's battle, we can celebrate at one of our very favorite venues, the Lafayette brewing Company.

Saturday April 10, Root Hog will be performing with Indianapolis jam phenom LadyMoon and Bloomington natives the New Old Cavalry. The show starts at 9 and will only be $5. After the Brew Co set, you can scamper down to the band's favorite late night spot, Hunter's Down Under to catch the after show with Bad Blood, from Louisville, and No Hay Banda from West Lafayette. That's 5 bands at $5. Nothing in town will have a better deal.

1/22/2010 -
Root Hog just found out yesterday that we have been added to this year's Muncie Spring Fest. The festival is held over the weekend of April 16-18 and we have been lucky to have been added as the opener for Chicago's own Lubriphonic! We will have more details in the future as they arrive.

In the meantime, if you are out and about and would like to check out Central Indiana's newest venue to host original live music, then stop out to Booney's tonight, in Avon. The Hog will be playing our first show there. Hidden Relics Promotions has been very good to Root Hog in 2009 and we look forward to working together through 2010 as well. Here is the address:

1/15/2010 -
We have had a couple of weeks to settle in to the new year now and Root Hog is very excited about what we have on the horizon. With several shows quickly approaching and several new songs in the works, the band just can not wait to start playing this new stuff out.

We are excited to be back at the Knickerbocker Saloon next month and we have several regional gigs in the mean time to keep us busy. Hopefully we will see you out there. To stay on top of our schedule, just check out the shows page.

1/2/2010 - Happy New Year everyone! We hope you are having a good go of it so far. The band has spent the last few weeks running around and trying to get collected through the rushed holidays as well as work up some new material for our 2010 shows. We will keep our schedule pretty loose in the next few coming months to focus harder on new original songs that we can start presenting at the future shows.

We would like to thank Hunter's Pub Down Under for hosting our super secret event on Dec. 18th. Hunter's has always been a friend to the Hog and we are thankful and grateful for their friendship.

Speaking of venues that have been very kind to us, we should also thank the Lafayette Brewing Company as well as Dr. Fine and D'Gleet for allowing us to rock out on New Year's Eve at one of Lafayette's finest venues.

We currently have new material started and cannot wait to be playing it for you. We have taken feedback from the debut album and we are already happy with the new stuff that is coming together, so it will be great to get your feedback on that as well.

Also, watch for our next Lafayette performance, whcih will be at the historic downtown venue known as the Knickerbocker Saloon. Check the shows page for full details.

12/24/2009 - Hello! We wanted to extend a Happy Holidays to you all and spread a little Christmas cheer.

Root Hog has been using some time off to work up new material and get some rest in, and in that time we have been honored by our local newspaper, the Journal and Courier, as being the band of the year and having released the album of the year.

Check out Tim Brouk's write up here: http://www.jconline.com/article/20091224/LIFE/912240302/Rock-It--Time-to-honor-year-s-best-bands

We look forward to our upcoming NYE show at the Lafayette Brewing Company and the regional shows in the coming year. Stay tuned!

11/9/2009 - We want to extend a big thank you to everyone who came out to our last few shows and made them such a good time to play. The Woodstove Flapjacks and the LBC were so much of a good team that we may have to look at doing that again next year.

Also, we played some new places and wanted to say thanks to all who came out to support us as well as the venues that are still willing to support live music. We just can't wait to make our way back to the I&I  State Line Tavern!

At this point we are going to take some time off to work up some new original material and bring it to you early next year. Can't wait!

9/21/2009 - We are so happy and thankful for those who joined us on Saturday to celebrate the release of our debut album at the Riverside. Words can not come close to showing our true appreciation. We would like to thank eFusion for lights, Nick Smith, Brad Lumley and Ron Smith for their contributions to the sound, Riverside for allowing us to play and party with our friends, and everyone who has offered encouragement and support for the year we have been playing together. We can not wait to see what the next year holds.
